I’m thinking this means that the default interpretive lens through which we are expected to view any papal statement regarding Ukraine/Russia is “this is a pastor talking” and not “this is a sovereign head of state talking”?
Can you help me? I could not tell if the following statement was outside the scope of remarks that were "not as a political stance":
"As for the large-scale war in Ukraine, initiated by the Russian Federation, the Holy Father Francis’ interventions are clear and unequivocal in condemning it as morally unjust, unacceptable, barbaric, senseless, repugnant, and sacrilegious."
Holy Father, too little, to late. Your games with peoples lives in China, Ukraine and Nicaragua are sure signs of abandonment and weakness. Your “diplomacy” is killing people who are dying feeling forsaken by the Church. I feel very sorry for you and am sorry too that you were elected.
